Jessi Kohoutek (BMusEd voice) has been coaching private students since 1991 and has watched many of them blossom as vocalists, songwriters, touring artists and music educators in bands, performers on Broadway and as recording and touring artists. In 2001 she completed her Bachelor of Music Education, specializing in Voice, from the University of Regina. She focused on classical voice work to build a strong technique that she would then pass on to her students. Jessi also completed her Level 3 Artist Mentorship Training in 2012 at Toronto's Royal Conservatory of Music and is current with the Ministry of Education in BC as a certified Music Teacher with a Lower Mainland school district. (music/drama/dance). Jessi has worked with Preschool through to Senior.
Jessi has had the pleasure of bringing her skills to many places as well as organizations including the Sask Express Musical Theatre Studio (Studio Director/Lead Teacher), Arts Umbrella (Drama Instructor), UBC Take To The Stage (Program Creator/Artistic Director), North Vancouver Recreation (Musical Theatre Instructor), Youth Association of Watson Lake, Yukon (Musical Theatre Instructor/Choreographer) and much more! She has performed on stage at festivals, in live music venues, on the Juno Awards and recorded in numerous studios.
Although she is classically trained, she is well versed in coaching any genre, using her training as a means to help students build a solid foundation of technique as well as confidence and vocal health. She plays piano, reads music and can sightread, depending on difficulty of music.
Jessi is known for creating safe, inclusive and accessible learning spaces for her clients so that they feel free to take risks, sit in the uncomfortable and try new things. She is committed to helping vocalists to sing without strain or pain regardless of the genre so that singing may last a lifetime because of vocal health.

Recording On Mic In Studio
Jessi is a recording artist herself and can coach clients while they are working in the recording booth during a session. This can be tailor built to suit the client and the situation so whether it's simply beginning skills that help to develop protocol in a recording session, how to communicate with a producer, building skills in finding harmonies or doubling the vocal, etc. She can work with clients where they are at in terms of experience and skill level.
Jessi helps her clients to discover their own authentic voices whether it be singing for fun and personal development or to support growth as an artist.
