Who is Queen Level Productions?

QLP is a Burnaby based small business dedicated to providing affordable creative and administrative services, supports and opportunities to BC based beginning + emerging music artists with a special invitation to artists living with disabilities and/or overcoming injuries.

We are inclusive, accessible and especially encourage and prioritize participation from members of groups that are historically, persistently, and systemically underrepresented including: Indigenous, Black and People of Colour; people identifying as LGBTQ2AI+ and/or non-binary; people living with visible and invisible disabilities; and members of other equity seeking groups. All are welcome.

Queen Level Productions is excited to build, to support music in BC and to make a positive difference in the lives of artists, educators and audiences!

Who is the owner of QLP?

Jessi Nicholson, is a music and recording artist, music educator, producer, voice coach, songwriter and entrepreneur; Her experience spans over 30 years. She is a single mother whose lived experience with multiple disabilities and major life barriers while developing her artistry and music career, contribute to her desire to support and serve others. She holds her Bachelor of Music Education Degree in Voice and has been performing and coaching for over 30 years.

What is Jessi's background experience?

Jessi is currently a K-7 Music Teacher with a local BC School District. Other highlights include: Artistic Director - Take To The Stage UBC Musical Theatre Summer Program, Co-Curator Empress Artist Showcase, Director, Saskatchewan Express Musical Theatre Studio, Owner, Light The Stage Community Arts + Education, Administrative Assistant, Canada Ice Dance Theatre, Administrator/Curator, Bigger Than You And Me Fundraising Group, Lead Educator/Administrator, Youth Out Loud (LaRonge, SK, Watson Lake, YUKON), has been teaching music in BC (Ministry of Education) since 2010 and completed both the "Embers Ventures: Build A Business" program as well as Level 3 Artist Mentorship Training with Learning Through The Arts in Toronto, Ontario. Jessica has worked with numerous arts organizations throughout the Lower Mainland as an Educator, Music Director, Choreographer and Director. What kinds of services will QLP be offering?

QLP provides sliding scale and accessible services wherever possible.

Services include: Artist Branding + Development, Voice Coaching, Graphic Design, Booking Support (to include needed accommodations), Music Theory Lessons, Event Curation and Audition Preparation

Are there other opportunities for artists with QLP?

I'm on Income Assistance / PWD / disability and can't afford to pay even your sliding scale options. Can I still work with QLP?

QLP feels very strongly about not letting finances be a barrier to services. There is always a way - we are developing a small subsidy grant/loan for struggling artists. We can also provide you with some suggestions around community financial aid that may help to offset some of the cost. Trades are sometimes negotiable on a case by case basis. Feel free to chat with us about your financial barriers.

I'm just starting out as an artist.... OR I'm not sure where to start to develop myself further as an artist..... OR I feel stuck as an artist.

Whether you are at the very beginning of your journey or in the middle of it, QLP is here to support you. We can help you find clarity regarding the path forward and create a plan with you, utilizing our services in order to help you grow.

What forms of payments do you accept?

We accept cash or email money transfer at this time. Receipts can be provided. We hope in the near future to be able to accept debit card and credit card.
